Thad’s 17th Year in Eternal Kingdom

In Eternal Kingdom, Memorial Runs by WebmasterLeave a Comment

Today is Thad's 17th anniversary. He was with us for 17 years and went to his heavenly home 17 years ago. Painful but we know he's in a better place. Thad, we miss you lots! ❤️❤️

We visited Thad in St Francis Xavier’s Church in the morning.

In the evening, we had dinner with Thom and Kim, Fr Cary and Godpa Matthew at Café Gyeon.

For the past 17 years, we have remembered and celebrated Thad's time with us through Thad's Memorial Runs at the RI (JC) stadium. The runs are held annually on the Sunday before 24 June. Except for the 2 COVID years, where everyone ran or walked around or near their homes (and they sent photos of their run/walk wearing pink), about 100 relatives and friends would join us every year wearing pink, in such a strong show of love.

Every RI/RJC Principal and Dean (CCA) past and present, have warmly and kindly allowed us to use the stadium, as it was where Thad used to run and train, as part of RJC's cross country team. We are forever grateful for this kind gesture. Thank you RI/RJC and staff!

On Sunday 23rd June, we held Thad’s 17th memorial run at RI stadium. It was attended by 95 friends and relatives. We are so glad that there are still so many friends and relatives, who continue to love Thad. We welcomed more first timers, all of them expressing inspiration and appreciation to be able to attend the run. Baby Cara, Baby Levi and little Genevieve are our newest and youngest additions.

Our oldest participant was Theo’s grandma, Mdm Tan Suan Choo at 94 years and our youngest was little Cara Foo at 2.5months.

She is special, as she is the daughter of Christine and Julian, Thad’s best friend. Julian is now also our Godson, that makes George, Cara’s Godgrandpa!

George completed his 5km run in 33:37:15.

Thad’s cross-country friends from RJC have joined us every year and we are grateful for their friendship and support.

We had dinner at Hualong Seafood after the memorial run. It was attended by Thom, Kim, Reggie, Theo, Mama, Pek, Margaret, Serene, Chung Hwa, Paul, Jennet, Francis, Nisa, Alli, Anna and Jacky.

I just visited Thad at SFX. I wore pink 💕 It was nice to be back at the church after so long.. felt quite emotional seeing him again and how the care bears were so lovingly arranged. After so many years, there is still a part of me that wishes that I cherished our friendship more when he was around, and that I could’ve been more supportive for you and Uncle during that difficult time.

So wonderful. So many came. Marvelous for 17 years. Amazing thing, each year new people have been coming. In memory of Thaddeus, the spirit of Thaddeus lives on in the absence of Thaddeus physical self. 🙏😇🙏

A Mother's Love, Forever Pink

In the threads of a pink t-shirt,

A memory is tightly sewn,

A mother’s love, unyielding,

For her son, who’s now flown.

This shirt, a canvas of love,

Worn close to her heart,

A silent testament to a bond,

We cannot part.
